The International Geospatial Conference and the accompanying exhibition were inaugurated today, Tuesday, 22 October 2024, at the Hotel La Lecco Tunis at 9:30 am under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Government of Tunisia. The opening was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Planning, His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Construction of the Government of Unity in the State of Libya, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Undersecretary of Environment in the Government of Libya, as well as a representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Government of Tunisia and the Chairman of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space of the United Nations Office for Space Affairs, a representative from the Gmes&Africa project.
A representative of the Gmes&Africa project, the Secretary General of the Union of Scientific Research Councils, the Executive Secretary of the Sahel and Sahara Observatory, the Director of the Regional Centre for Maps and Development in Nairobi, Kenya, a number of ambassadors and members of the political corps accredited in Tunisia, deans and heads of departments, bodies, universities and research and academic centres, many speeches were heard in this session and then a thorough explanation of the scientific programme of the conference.
The opening session was adjourned and the opening of the conference and exhibition was announced by the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia.
